Here’s a big pile of work.

From agencies big and small, here are projects and clients I’ve had the opportunity to create for. You’ll see work for Chevrolet, Burger King, Tim Horton’s, Motor City Casino and more. Have a scroll, take a look.

Commonwealth // McCann

As a jr. copywriter at the agency of record for Chevrolet, I sold several nationally broadcasted TV spots and contributed ideas and writings to every creative division. (August 2014 — September 2016)

Did you try to turn up your volume? This ad promotes one of the clever features of Teen Driver Tech.

Unexpected Fare shows how surprisingly inexpensive driving can be with the Chevrolet Malibu. See B.T.S.

A retail broadcast spot for Chevy's Black Friday event. If it was overplayed on your tv, I truly apologize.

A television spot for the 2015 Daytona 500. It was most exciting to work on.

A television spot boasting Camaro Z/28  for winning the Motor Trend 2015 Best Driver's Car.

Fun internal stuff

My red balloon project makes unofficial ties with #DayItForward for Chevrolet.

I had the fun task to direct, write and star in this video shared with our CW offices around the globe.

Commonwealth McCann Commongoods Employee Market Day_Johnny Michael.png

Commongoods is a market day at Commonwealth. With a handful of fellow employees, I was very proud to dream up and successfully start this event within the agency. It fosters creativity by enabling employees to sell goods and market their side businesses.

Print & Paper

A collection of print pieces that lived within sports programs.

A collection of print pieces for performance and motorsports that made it out into the world.

For Chevrolet's support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

For the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. Emoji hangtags!

A video showing off the fantastic 2017 Sonic Catalog. Directed with the help of my good friend Ken Burns.

They say if you've got it, flaunt it. I wasn't sure how to flaunt my Equinox catalog, but here it is in all its glory.

With the fourth-generation #Camaro, they sure were.

That one time they used my face for the launch of the sixth generation Camaro. #instafamous

500 Degrees Studio

As a Senior Copywriter I worked on Tim Horton’s and Burger King from 2017-2018.

Tim Horton’s

Burger King.

Fake King. Geniune enthusiasm.

Here’s some more work from various freelance roles.

When I was in Chicago I worked for an extremely talented artist, Matthew Hoffman — I helped him do all sorts of cool stuff, like write a book, paint a mural and create some great big signage that tells people they are beautiful. I also got to run this really fun social campaign with his art series, "The Its Ok." Here are some highlights.

Using the staff as a cast, I wrote and directed this video for a package of skin care products. I also threw meatballs.

The Rec Bowl is a neighborhood icon in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. I had the fortunate opportunity to help their business do some modern marketing. I didn't do it for the money, I did it for the burgers.

Noteworthy things I did there:

  • Build a new digital home for The Rec Bowl. Check it out at

  • Start Open Mic Comedy Night. (Performed too!)

  • Take pictures of things. (Like those burgers up there)

  • Develop an eNewsletter campaign with Mailchimp.

  • Contribute to their social marketing efforts.

 Keep Miami beautiful

Recently I've been on a recycling kick. Here are some ideas I sent to the city of Miami. We've met. But that .gov budget is a tight one. Trying to figure out how to make them happen. Interested in helping?

Chicago Portfolio School

To guide my career as a copywriter I attended Chicago Portfolio School. From 2011 to 2012, I spent most of my days there, plus a few unauthorized nights on the couch. You can dig in and see that work here.
