Creative Project: Hi at Hall Of Visions by Pilar Zeta / by Johnny Michael

I visited the Hall Of Visions installation by Pilar Zeta at the Faena in Miami Beach during Art Basel. It was both bizarre and cool. Bizarre because if you stand back and look around at all the natural beauty and oceanside scenery you begin to wonder about how strange humans are: that they plan, construct and materialize such objects like the Hall of Visions and then other humans flock to come take pictures by it. Then after erected, a line of people waited patiently to come to play and take photos. Photos that they would share out in some digital universe we’ve made. Some even planned to perform special talents, like a girl doing soccer ball tricks wearing clothing that matched the color scheme of the art. Another girl danced in a bikini all the way from both ends of the structure while a supportive male followed her along with a telephone camera to capture the footage. Then there was me, who also joined in on the modern age fun, coming in for a wave and getting in on the hoopla of instagrammable hype. How can one resist? I want to be seen. I wanted to say Hi to you — and Hi I’m here. This freaky thing with colorful pillars, a checkered Alison-Wonder-McKenzie-Child-esque floor stage and a mirrored egg… it's just begged to be captured and before they take it down never to be seen again.

To work on some editing techniques, I also challenged myself to test Auto Reframe in Premiere Pro to make a nice eye-appealing post version. It worked. And I also made it a little shorter to appease the attention span.
