It all started when I met Dave at Jordan Brady's Commercial Directing Retreat.
A year later, we were on the trails of Mount Hood in Portland, Oregon with a crew, ready to film.
Trusty Souls is a story about the things that stay with us—by our side, along for the journey. The things we love that last. That make memories. That define chapters of our lives and make life the wonderful thing that it is.
You think of those boots, that dog, those good times together.
Writing and working on this spot was pure joy. I was grateful to collaborate with Dave through every step of the process—writing, storyboarding, and co-directing. I'm incredibly proud to see it come together and have it as part of my portfolio.
Dave did an incredible job coordinating production and scouting locations. He gathered the right crew, which made the whole day run smoothly on set. We had three (and eventually four) dogs to prove the concept. Three pairs of boots—from new to gently weathered. A wardrobe that progressed to show the hiker's growing technical skills and investment. From novice to pro. From puppy to good old dog. It represents an arc of life and the things that are with us for the journey.

Now I ain’t saying I’m a pro storyboard artist, but here are just a few of the boards and thumbnails I sketched up to help support the pre-viz:
I want to share the behind the scenes:
