From The Fringe at Osprey Point in Boca Raton / by Johnny Michael

Spent Monday up in Boca Raton filming aerials at Osprey Point Golf Course. Not the most spectacular looking day with overcast skies, but sometimes the best learning happens when conditions aren't perfect.

This shoot was a good reminder that great golf content takes more than just showing up with a drone. Working with the Palm Beach County film office to secure permits, coordinating with course management, timing around play - all part of the process. The folks at Osprey Point were great to work with, especially Joe who showed me the ropes and connected me with Art, the starter who gave me a tour of their signature holes.

We focused on three standouts: Hawk 8, Falcon 9, and Raven 5. Hawk 8 is the real showstopper - that's the one that deserves the full cinematic treatment when I return with better light.

One of the advantages of filming at Osprey is that they rotate which nine is closed for maintenance, which means I can come back and shoot Hawk 8 completely clean without worrying about pace of play.

Surprise of the day… Two bobcats out on the Raven course. They looked more impressive when I first spotted them trotting across the green, but as soon as I got the drone up and flew near them, they started retreating into the brush. Still pretty wild to see.

For the edit, I had a little fun with Suno AI and prompted it to create a feel-good song about golf in Boca Raton. Turned out perfect for the vibe.

Here's a :30 cut of what we captured:

Solid start and foundation. Looking forward to the next trip up when the weather cooperates.

Let’s tee up Your creative Project.
